Lethbridge Boxing Club is built around a welcoming community where boxing develops respect, confidence, discipline, and character while giving athletes the opportunity to grow from first-timer to high-level competitor.

The Club

The club is located at 110 22nd Street North, Lethbridge, AB T1H 3R5. It is home to Lethbridge’s only elevated 20-foot regulation boxing ring and roughly 2,500 square feet of training space.

Members train in a facility equipped for both boxing and conditioning, with change room access, a washroom, water fountain, parking, heavy bags, speed bags, boxing dummies, and additional fitness equipment to support every stage of development.

Boxing Equipment

Heavy bags, speed bags, uppercut bag, Muay Thai bag, bungee bag, and boxing dummies.

Fitness Equipment

Treadmill, elliptical, dumbbells, sandbags, and medicine balls.

Competitive boxing training

Competitive Boxing

For boxers who want to test themselves in the ring. Sessions are semi-coached, usually run 60 to 120 minutes, and can include jump rope, shadow boxing, bag work, mitts, dummies, and sparring.

Non-Competitive Boxing

Built for beginners who want the benefits of boxing without sparring. Expect jump rope, shadow boxing, bags, dummies, and pad work in a supportive semi-coached environment.

Little Sluggers

A fully coached introductory class for ages 4 to 7 that channels energy into movement, confidence, coordination, and fun in a safe club setting.

Head Coach

Rick Duff

Rick Duff competed from 1979 to 1984, and again in 1989 and 1995, building a record of 251 wins and 13 losses. He became a seven-time provincial champion, a five-time Canadian national champion, and represented Canada at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

After his amateur career, Rick served in the Canadian military, coached in multiple Alberta clubs, and took over as Head Coach of Lethbridge Boxing Club in 2010. He has since helped develop Canadian champions while carrying forward the club’s long tradition of rugged, disciplined boxing. He is also the recipient of Alberta Boxing’s Lifetime Achievement Award.

A Proud Boxing History

Since 1937, Lethbridge Boxing Club has been shaped by a line of respected coaches whose work built the gym’s competitive standards, community roots, and Rugged Tough identity.

John Pahara

1937 - 1957

John Pahara

John Pahara helped launch the club era that began in 1937. He coached for 20 years, competed while coaching, won provincial titles, and developed early Canadian and provincial champions that established the gym’s standard.

Tony Bogusky

1944 - 1975

Tony Bogusky

Tony Bogusky was a longtime club leader and Hall of Fame inductee whose coaching years overlapped a major growth period for the gym. He worked with notable fighters including Kai Yip, Ed French, and Carmen Rinke.

Kai Yip

1975 - 2010

Kai Yip

A decorated boxer and Hall of Famer, Kai Yip coached the club for decades and helped shape future champions including Rick Duff, Curtis Hatch, and Joel Mills. His era carried the club through generations of competitive success.

Rick Duff

Olympian, five-time Canadian champion, and current Head Coach, Rick Duff has continued the club’s history while mentoring new generations of boxers and preserving a serious but beginner-friendly gym culture. He is also the recipient of Alberta Boxing’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
